Growing up on a farm near Stromsburg, I learned the value of community. When I attended Doane to receive my teaching degree, this small-town girl found that community in music, student government, philosophical conversations and the late-night shenanigans that happen when you’re studying with friends. Having lived in Lincoln now for over 25 years, my husband and I have cultivated intentional community with like-minded friends to help us navigate life as we raise our 3 boys.
As an outsider, I was attracted to the community that BancWise has built through excellent leadership, skillful work and trustworthy relationships. I am thrilled to represent the BancWise team and to bring those qualities to your real estate experience!
I am known for my attention to detail, excellent and honest communication and my ability to educate. My people also know me for my well-timed sarcasm and a robust laugh.

Get to know Sunshine
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Europe! I have always loved history, but now that I am (mostly) grown up, I have a much greater appreciation for history. Paris, Italy, Ireland, England…I want to visit them all. I have an affinity for all things British: The Royal family and the English countryside, British TV dramas and novels via audiobook. This may also be why I prefer to listen to the Bible in a British accent!
What has been the most impactful experience in your life?
While I consider my entire time on staff at Lincoln Berean Church as a long period of growth, I had the privilege of working alongside Claudine Lehman. She had so many qualities that I admired: she was fierce yet gentle, direct but loving, and was such a deep thinker. During a particularly difficult time in my life, I felt compelled to take a Bible Study that she was leading. Though I had been a Christian for several decades, that class was foundational to deepen my faith and point me to the character of God. Her continuous guidance and encouragement during my time on staff are real gifts to my life.
What are some of your hobbies?
Arranging flowers! I will grab a combination of flowers or greens from my summer landscape, the grocery store cooler, and even dry ditch grasses to create an arrangement. I can find beauty in any created thing (except mosquitos), and love using that beauty to commemorate special occasions.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher! After completing my education at Doane, I taught in both Omaha and Lincoln Public Schools. I now teach our boys at our kitchen table and many co-op students. My favorite subjects to teach are Shakespeare, History and Science.
