Ashley Hustad

I was raised in Texas but have been living in Lincoln for over 25 years so I have nearly no accent except for the overuse of the word “y’all”. I met my husband, Mark, in high school and we were married in 2003. We have 4 boyish boys and a sassy little girl who runs it all.

A unique tidbit about our family is that all 5 of our kiddos came to us through adoption…our youngest 4 through foster/adoption. Because I’m most comfortable in chaos, we also have 3 “dog children” who are definitely our best listeners.

I’ve been so honored to be a top agent out of 1,000+ agents over my 16 year career.

What I love about this industry is that I get to help clients through a historically stressful process. I like meeting and strategizing about what needs to be done to make the home more marketable. I have an inner circle of dependable contractors and resources to aid my clients in prepping their home to sell. I’ve seen such incredible results with selling quickly and for at-or-above asking price and much of that is due to the prep work beforehand.

With my buyers, it’s all about zeroing in what they want, what their price point is and being proactive so we are the “winning offer” in a competitive market. There is a lot of strategy to the buying side as well and we are 110% in it together.

I’ve been so honored to be a top agent out of 1,000+ agents over my 16 year career. It is because of my incredible clients who trust me and refer me their friends and family. Not surprisingly, many clients become like family to ME. It’s a people business. If you choose people over everything, it’s always a win.

What are some of your hobbies?

We have 5 kids to chauffeur to sports and events so that fills a lot of my free time. My husband and I enjoy attending Husker football games (even in these rebuilding years *wink*) as well as escaping away to travel as much as possible throughout the year.

What single event/person/thing has most changed your life?

The BancWise founder, Larry Zitek, was not only my boss but my mentor and friend. Even though he was the picture of health, the unexpected happened: in 2014 he was diagnosed with an incurable and aggressive brain tumor. Witnessing his incredible grace and strength as the cancer took his life has forever changed me. He spent those hard months appreciating all he was given and figuring out a way to help others manage the extra expense they (and their family) accumulate while fighting the disease. Larry’s life affected me in so many ways business wise but in much bigger ways personally.

What do you like most about helping people buy and sell a home?

Whether you are a first time buyer or a seller looking to move up…it’s stressful! I enjoy coming alongside my clients and educating and guiding them throughout the entire process. Nothing beats ecstatic clients on closing day. I’m so grateful to have worked with some pretty fabulous people through the years and it’s an honor when they refer me their family and friends so the “web” of connections deepen.

What have been your accomplishments throughout your real estate career?

My biggest accomplishments in my real estate career are less about numbers and ratings and more about helping clients and friends navigate stressful transitions. By staying people focused and not transaction-only focused, I have been able to stay a top rated agent in Lincoln for over 10 years. I also have the honor or mentoring other agents. Seeing them learn and grow and ultimately have a successful business is so fulfilling.
